When attempting to install a 32 bit version of Office software, you may run into the following error when the setup program begins:
=================================
We can't install the 32 bit version of Office because we found the following 64-bit programs on your PC:
Office 16 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component 64-bit Registration
Please uninstall all 64-bit Office programs, then retry installing the 32-bit Office. If you want to install 64-bit Office instead, please run the 64-bit setup.
=================================
TO FIX:
Open the Run prompt (Windows Key + R; or search 'Run' in Windows)
Type 'Installer', hit enter.
Enable the 'Subject' description field in Windows Explorer by right-clicking the "Name" field, clicking more, and scroll down to enable the checkbox for 'Subject'. Note: Many files may not have a subject: this is fine.
Scroll down the list of files until you find "Office 16 Click-to-Run" in the Subject field. The error code specifies the Registration file specifically, but no harm is done by selecting each of the 4 files individually, right clicking and clicking uninstall. Once all 4 are uninstalled, the 32 bit installer should run.
